Advanced Life Sciences Holdings, Inc. [[ADLS.OB]], a biopharmaceutical company focused on infectious diseases, saw its shares jump more than 20 percent amid speculation that the government will put pressure on the FDA to fast-track the approval of drugs to fight H1N1. Investors are speculating that this will also apply to ADLS’s Restanza drug.
NeoGenomics, Inc. [[NGNM.OB]], which operates a network of cancer-focused testing laboratories, saw its shares jump more than 25 percent after entering into a supply agreement with Abbott [[ABT]] to supply materials for NeoGenomics to develop its own FISH-based test for the diagnosis of melanoma. Abbott also acquired 9.6% of the company’s stock for $4.8mm.
Lotus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. [[LTUS.OB]], a China-based pharmaceutical company, saw its shares jump more than 20 percent on no news. The company is set to announce second quarter earnings in August. Last quarter, the company reported net income that jumped 258% to $3.6 million, leading many shareholders to believe the stock is undervalued.
SinoHub Inc. [[SIHI.OB]], which sells electronic component sales and electronic supply chain management services, saw its shares jump nearly 40 percent on no news. The company was featured in a popular stock market newsletter, but has not announced any fundamental data or news.
Genta Incorporated [[GETA.OB]], a biopharmaceutical company engaged in drug research and development, continues to be among the OTC-BB’s most traded stocks with approximately 1.16 million shares changing hands so far in today’s session. However, the stock remains primarily a trading play rather than a long-term investment given the risks associated.
