OriginOil Inc. (OOIL), NeoMedia Technologies Inc. (NEOM), Six Flags Inc. (SIXF), HST Global Inc. (HSTC), and Far East Energy Corporation (FEEC) are among today’s top movers.
OriginOil Inc. [[OOIL.OB]] shares moved sharply higher after it announced a single-step process to extract oil from algae. The company plans to rapidly commercialize the process for use on its own and by others in the algae industry. Initial testing indicates that the new process is simpler and more efficient than current systems, without requiring chemicals or significant capital expenditure for heavy machinery.
NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. [[NEOM.OB]] shares moved sharply higher after it announced a 2D barcoding service for advertising campaigns. The first campaign launched using this technology was an interactive advertising campaign to promote Nokia’s new Navigation phones in Austria. The campaign enabled mobile consumers to scan a 2D barcode for a chance to win the phone, and was featured in several high profile Austrian men’s lifestyle magazines.
Six Flags Inc. [[SIXF.OB]] shares move sharply higher after it announced that it was delisted to the OTC-BB from the NYSE. Many investors are hoping that the lower costs associated with being listed on the OTC-BB as opposed to a centralized exchange could help improve the trouble theme park operators financial condition going forward. However, there is still a lot of risk remaining in its core operations.
HST Global Inc. [[HSTC.OB]] shares moved sharply higher after it announced that it signed a letter of intent to acquire a treatment facility. The integrated biotechnology health and wellness company noted that the acquisition would enable it to provide alternative health care options for people suffering from late stage cancer. The company was planning to open three to five facilities worldwide in 2009.
Far East Energy Corporation [[FEEC.OB]] shares moved sharply higher continuing their move from earlier this month. Last week, the company announced that it saw a 300 percent increase in gas production during the past three months. As a result, the company is hoping to begin discussions with its Chinese partner, China United Coalbed Methane Company, regarding a marketing agreement.
