Universal Detection Technology [[UNDT.OB]], which develops and markets bioterrorism detection devices, saw its shares rise more than 180 percent after receiving a U.S. patent for its automated anthrax detection system. The patent, titled “Apparatus and Method for Automated Monitoring of Bacterial Spores,” is the company’s second for technology licensed by the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
Neoprobe Corporation [[NEOP.OB]], which develops and commercializes products that enhance patient care, saw its shares rise more than 12 percent after locking in millions of dollars in additional financing from a key investor as it moves closer to completing pre-market testing of its cancer-detecting Lymphoseek drug. Platinum Montaur Life Sciences has agreed to exercise all 6 million stock warrants that will result in $3.45 million in proceeds by October.
China Organic Agriculture, Inc. [[CNOA.OB]], which distributes agricultural products in China, saw its shares rise more than 15 percent after experiencing a technical breakout ahead of second-quarter earnings. The majority of the stock’s trading was transacted in early morning hours, which ended up at around 1 million shares traded. Many investors are looking forward to mid-August when the company reports its earnings results for the quarter.
