Power Medical Interventions, Inc. [[PMII.OB]], which manufactures and markets the SurgASSIST surgical instrument, saw its shares jump nearly 250 percent after Covidien [[COV]] offered to acquire the company for $2.08 in cash in a transaction worth $64 million in total, including assumed debt.
Pacific WebWorks, Inc. [[PWEB.OB]], an application service provider and software development firm, saw its shares jump nearly 30 percent after upgrading its growth forecast for 2009. The firm is experiencing stronger revenue growth than earlier forecast and now anticipates 150% growth from 2008 to 2009 compared to the 70% to 80% originally forecast.
Northern Explorations Ltd. [[NXPN.OB]], an oil and gas exploration company, saw its shares rise more than 25 percent after being featured in several penny stock newsletters. Recently, the company also provided a positive update on its California Gas Project, where it completed a 3D Seismic reprocessing of data and identified a preliminary drilling target.
Puda Coal, Inc. [[PUDC.OB]], a supplier of metallurgical coking coal to the industrial sector in China, saw its shares jumped more than 17 percent after being mentioned in several newsletters. The stock also broke through a key technical resistance on higher-than-average volume.
