Cereplast, Inc. [[CERP.OB]], which develops and commercializes bio-based resins, saw its shares rise more than 40 percent after developing a breakthrough technology to transform algae into bioplastics. The new family of algae-based resins could replace 50% or more of the petroleum content used in traditional plastic resins. The company is still in the development phase, this breakthrough could result in a significant new line of business in the years to come.
Nutra Pharma Corp. [[NPHC.OB]], a development stage biopharmaceutical company, saw its shares rise more than 20 percent after XenaCare Holdings (XHCO) announced that it signed an advertising agreement with Belmont International to market its over-the-counter pain reliever, Cobroxin – including an advertisement in the NFL Alumni Guide and a print marketing campaign. The drug is licensed from Nutra Pharma Corp.
MedaSorb Technologies Corporation [[MSBT]], a development-stage medical device company, saw its shares rise more than 40 percent as it draws closer to completion of its human clinical trials. Its patented CytoSorb blood purification device uses state of the art resin technology to remove toxins from the blood, allowing the recirculation of clean blood back into the body. Investors are now awaiting the upcoming 2009 International Sepsis Symposium in Amsterdam to learn more on November 11th to the 14th.
